Rail Logistics Manager
Purpose and Scope/General Summary: We are seeking an experienced Rail Logistics Manager. The Rail Logistics Manager is responsible for all rail for the company’s By-Products business. A potential candidate will have experience in bulk commodities preferably with experience in Agricultural products, specifically Tallow, Grease and Meals. The role will be responsible for managing a small team dedicated to servicing our production facilities and our customers with the primary role of forecasting. In addition, they will act as a resource to customers (internal and external), monitor rails shipment delivery schedules, and provide coordination services between the company and rail carriers.
Responsibilities:

• Manage the company’s rail fleet forecasting to ensure continued plant operations
• Lead and act as the point of contact for all negotiations with rail providers and lease companies
• Determine Rail Fleet requirements
• Manage Rail Car lease contracts
• Work with Operations leadership to manage rail services program
• Monitor rail car service performance and maintenance requirements
• Negotiate/Mitigate railcar demurrage
• Work directly with rail carriers to solve any rail network issues-embargoes, switching schedules, congestion, and transit problems
• Supervise rail logistics personnel
• Identify and develop best practices
• Represent Company’s interest within industry groups/associations
• Assist in other rail related planning and maintenance activities as necessary
• Direct responsibility for the rail fleet
• Lead implementation of new rail systems and systems
• Manages expectation and day-to-day business needs of customers
• Liaise with operational staff at our facilities across the country
• Stay abreast of technical advancements and innovative developments within the industry
• Reports, forecasts and budgets, etc.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the Rail Logistics industry
• Experience with manifest freight
• Experience using rail planning systems such as RSI, Transcore etc.
• Familiarity with the bulk agricultural products, ideally rendered goods
• Paste experience leading a team of people
• Ability to multi task in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Outlook, Etc.,
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written communication
• As a salaried position with the company, you may be required to travel at some point to other facilities, to attend Company events, or as a representative of the Company in other situations. Unless otherwise specified in this posting, the amount of travel may vary and the most qualified candidate must be willing and able to travel as business needs dictate.

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

• 
  Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
• 
  Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
• 
  401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
• 
  Base salary range of $90,000-$140,000 and
• 
  Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;

This compensation range is specific to the State of Colorado and takes into account various factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to a candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiencies for the role.
