Junior Merchandiser

Purpose and Scope/General Summary: Pilgrim’s is looking for a Junior Merchandiser that is responsible for facilitating timely deliveries of soybean meal through the truck and rail programs, as well as ensuring consistent and detailed communication between internal traders, external counterparties, and feed mill personnel.

Responsibilities:

• Manage rail and truck pipelines, ensuring timely delivery to Pilgrim’s feed mills

• Develop weekly instructions for shipments

• Determine and execute least cost logistical plans

• Communicate with both internal and external teams to quickly determine status updates on shipments and usages

• Effectively communicate with the risk management team

• Other duties as assigned

  Qualifications:

• 4-year degree required– preferably in Ag related field

• Computer aptitude for database management (SAP), general word processing, and spreadsheet programs

• SAP experience preferred

• Ability to work well within Trade team

• Ability to learn all aspects of the PPC Trade business including vendors, logistics, sales and administration

• General knowledge of accounting process and ability to reconcile information

• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of the organization and with external customers

• Must maintain a high level of accuracy

• Strong work ethic – self-motivated and driven

• Knowledge of production agriculture a plus but not required

• As a salaried position with the company, you may be required to travel at some point to other facilities, to attend Company events, or as a representative of the Company in other situations. Unless otherwise specified in this posting, the amount of travel may vary and the most qualified candidate must be willing and able to travel as business needs dictate.

  The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

• Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;

• Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;

• 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;

• Base salary range of $65,000-$75,000; and

• Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;
