Jensen Hughes’ Industrial +Process Safety team works with industrial clients to meet their most challenging needs. We provide innovative, comprehensive and right-sized solutions to address the complexities of hazardous materials processing, transfer and storage. We work with clients constructing or operating high hazard processes, including chemical, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, energy, semiconductor, food and beverage sectors.
Jensen Hughes has a job opportunity for a Senior Process Safety Consultant to help grow our Industrial + Process Safety Team. We are flexible in terms of location but have current team hubs in Baltimore, MD or Chicago, IL, and Halifax, NS so it could be an advantage to work from one of these locations. Remote work arrangements will be considered. This person will perform, direct and grow engineering service offerings in industrial occupancies, supporting and accelerating our company’s continued growth in the industrial safety and process safety fields.
The ideal candidate will have relevant industry experience and be a subject matter expert in one or more of the following areas of process safety:
Chemical reaction calorimetry
Emergency Relief System design
Combustible dust hazards and mitigation
Chemical process safety
Consequence Modelling and Facility Siting
Safety Risk Analysis
Hazardous materials building and fire codes
Deliver high quality technical products (reports, design documents, modelling, analyses)
Write work scopes and supervise the technical work products of other engineers
Manage multiple consulting projects, with ultimate responsibility for quality, budget and client relationships
Provide training and mentoring to internal staff and new hires
Business development with both existing and new clients
Regular involvement in regional and national industry organizations
Work with management and other internal BD resources to execute strategic plans
Guide development of tools and templates for use by internal staff
Serve as expert, guest speaker or contributing author to publications in niche area
High-level written and oral communication skills to write reports, business correspondence, presentations, etc., and to respond to questions from clients, prospective clients, management and internal staff.
Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where limited or no standardization exists.
Ability to build and execute strategic plans to grow market share, with assistance of management, and the technical, BD and marketing staff
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or higher, and 15 or more years of related experience; OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience
Professional Engineer (P.E.), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Institute of Safety and Health Management (ISHM) or comparable certification strongly preferred.
Financial project management skills and business acumen
25%-50% travel time (USA and International)
