Duties
Under the supervision of the Regional Director, the Area Director supports the overall objectives of Joni and Friends’ U.S. Ministries and will perform duties and responsibilities requiring special expertise including, but not limited to:
Provide inspirational and operational leadership to the Area Ministry Area Team
Oversee the recruiting, selecting, and equipping of Area Team members and leaders
Meet regularly with Area Team leaders for the purpose of coaching and development
Meet regularly with the local Ministry Area Team
Funnel all ministry activities through the Area Team
Establish an annual and long-range strategy and budgets for their AM office, both domestically and internationally that ensures growth, financial success and consistent achievement of the Joni and Friends mission, vision, and commission.
Cultivate and maintain donor base through relationships, partnerships, and fundraisers
Represent the local AM well and communicate appropriately and effectively with staff, volunteer teams, donors, churches, and community groups on ministry and financial status
Recruitment, employment, development, and release of personnel, both staff and volunteers, in conjunction with Human Resource Services
Participate in local and international Joni and Friends programs
Maintain Budget Oversight
Ensure that adequate funds are raised and are available to carry out Area Ministry programing and administration
Responsible for developing and maintaining sound financial practices.
Work with the staff in preparing a budget.
Work with the Development Department to increase funding
Work effectively with service departments to leverage partnerships for ministry success
Other duties and projects as assigned by the Supervisor to support department and organizational needs
Qualifications
Must possess a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ and agree with the Joni and Friends statement of faith
Desire to serve in a growing and dynamic Christian service ministry
Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of five years organizational leadership and/or management – or equivalent
Proven ability to manage and grow fund development programs for non-profit organizations with budgets of $400,000
Love for the local church and understand church culture
Strategic thinker- ability to formulate and execute plans efficiently and effectively
Strong leadership and development experience. Ability to coach, train, and develop personnel
Ability to effectively communicate our mission verbally through one-on-one interactions and public speaking opportunities; strong oral/written communication skills
Innovative thinker with the ability to expand and improve the Area Ministry Office process, procedures, programs, reach, and community awareness
Able to travel (internationally and domestically) and work evenings, weekends as needed
Solid computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office software
Understanding of Christian ministry and specifically Joni and Friends is desirable
Compensation: $85,000 – $90,000 per year (exempt)
