Job Description
The Product Risk Manager will be engaged and provide council on emerging and quickly evolving innovations within Chase. They will be accountable for challenging our product and capabilities teams by bringing a data driven, risk averse mindset to the table. The culmination of this challenge will result in a compilation of risks and potential mitigants. The Product Risk Manager identifies when escalation of topics to the Chief Risk Officer and potentially the risk committee is necessary.
What a Product Risk Manager does:
Meets regularly with Consumer Banking partners in product development to understand both their long-term plans and short term activities and is a trusted advisor to the line of business while maintaining independence
Leverages data in decision making
Looks for strategic risk in emerging products and services through
Evaluates new concepts or modifications to existing services to ensure that the business has identified all the risks and has included appropriate controls to mitigate operational and reputation risk
Knows the products and services they oversee as well as the business
Has a working knowledge of applicable bank policy and external regulation to escalate issues appropriately to Compliance and Legal partners
Has a working knowledge of controls that are used to mitigate inherent risk
Reliably represents the interests of other internal stakeholders in risk management
Collaborates with the business to solve problems. Identifies and escalates within the risk management framework when the business exposes the bank to risk in an unsafe way
Stays abreast of new/changes in technology and Digital financial services
Stays up to date on emerging industry threats and risks
Deconstructs and explains complex concepts and issues in a business-friendly manner to senior/executive management
Qualifications
Minimum of a bachelor degree
Minimum 3 years in a retail banking environment or oversight function (Audit, Controls, Operational Risk Management, Information Risk Management, Compliance)
Experience with digital/mobile banking, payments, and /or other emerging technologies
Prior experience in financial services
Familiarity with agile development methodology
Critical thinking skills
Ability to defend positions with quantitative analysis
Ability to work effectively with both business and technically oriented individuals
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong emotional intelligence and ability to influence
Ability to work independently while managing multiple deadlines and priorities
Ability to work within a team
Familiarity with data analytics is a plus
