Job Title: After School Science Instructor

Overall Purpose: To deliver after school science clubs to primary school children in South County Dublin.

Main Responsibilities: These are to:

• Deliver hands on science-based after school club programs to children from 6 -12 years old between Monday to Friday (2pm -5pm).
• Prepare for topics and classes using our lesson plans & equipment
• Take care of provided equipment.
• Be responsible for health and safety of children during the events.

Required Educational Level:

Ideally a science, or child care qualification, or Leaving Cert pending completion of third level studies for a teaching degree or similar qualification (preferred). Experience of working with children is mandatory.

Professional Experience and Skills

• Have full access to a car and full driving licence
• Strong communication skills, with an aptitude for conveying accurate,

science-based fact in a child-friendly manner.

• Strong sense of fairness
• Experience in working with children (ideally between 6-12)
• Good organisational skills, equipment care, use of technology (smart phone with GPS), promptness in responding to emails and other communications, thoroughness in preparation for classes and other events and proactive about clarifying matters with parents when required.
• Passionate about STEM education
• Punctuality and willingness to travel (across South Dublin)
• Flexibility regarding working hours – Monday to Friday afternoons between 2pm -5pm

We offer extra hours to host our science birthday parties, corporate events, science camps, school shows & workshops on a part mite & flexible basis to the right candidates. Excellent rate of pay per event. Full training is provided for this role.

Job Type: Part-time
Part-time hours: 10-20 per week

Salary: €30.00-€50.00 per hour
