Ko tā mātou mahi – Our Role

The Advisor – Infrastructure Acceleration Fund (IAF) will work closely with our Senior Commercial Leads and wider team to proactively manage and monitor the arrangements Kāinga Ora has in place in relation to a number of housing developments involving delivery of major enabling infrastructure projects and significant housing outcomes. This will involve supporting the engagement and building of relationships with local authorities, developers, other government agencies including the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Treasury, Waka Kotahi, Crown Infrastructure Partners, as well as other relevant stakeholders. A key aspect of the role is to provide support to the IAF Team and drive the housing developments to deliver on key milestones in a collaborative and positive manner. The Advisor will also regularly engage with iwi and Māori to understand priorities and goals in relation to their housing aspirations for developments supported by IAF funding. This is a varied and dynamic role that provides the opportunity to conduct analysis and dive deep into commercial matters as well as explore varied aspects of infrastructure and housing delivery.

The Advisor – IAF will face opportunities and challenges to identify constraints and issues for delivery and provide support in the creation and implementation of solutions. Ultimately, this role supports the dynamic delivery of substantial housing supply across Aotearoa in the short to medium term.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu – What you will bring

• Tertiary qualification (or similar) of direct relevance to the role (e.g. Construction, Finance, Planning, Business, Property, Legal).
• An understanding of the various aspects of large-scale property developments (planning, funding and finance, infrastructure requirements, construction and housing) is desirable, but not required.
• Possess strong oral and written skills and experience in working with reporting systems, preparing reports, and the ability to correspond with colleagues and stakeholders effectively, positively and collaboratively.
• Initiative to identify areas of weakness in respect of proactive management and monitoring of IAF supported housing developments, consider and develop ideas for improving them and work with the team to implement them into business as usual.
• Proven experience in balancing objective requirements and commercial imperatives.
• Some experience with public sector structure, governance, processes and systems is desirable, but not required.
• Ability to manoeuvre comfortably through complex processes and government requirements to achieve the desired outcome for complex, sensitive or risky programme deliverables.
• Sensitivity to how people and organisations function, ability to deal comfortably with organisational politics and anticipate landmines and to plan approaches accordingly.
• Experience working closely within a relatively small team to drive successful outcomes.
• Ability to make decisions and balance all possible options by combining analysis, creativity, and realism to choose the appropriate action or plan.
• Ability to contribute to numerous projects at varying stages concurrently and balance priorities.
• Ability to identify and manage risks in a political setting.
• Understanding of partnership obligations under the Treaty of Waitangi.
