Job Purpose:
To develop and improve the hygiene standards and systems within the site. To deliver strong and consistent leadership to the hygiene function and to ensure that the Company complies with all relevant legislation.

Ensure hygiene standards and targets of cleanliness are achieved and continuously improved. To support the production process through the continuous monitoring of hygiene standards of the plant, machinery, and grounds. Site developed and implemented SOP’s to be adhered to. Be able to identify opportunities to improve the function and reduce costs whilst ensuring full conformity.
Role Key Accountabilities Added Value
Training/Development – To build a multi-skilled hygiene team trained against all site procedures, SOP’s, food safety and health and safety procedures
Coaching/mentoring – to conduct hygiene operative and team leader reviews
To develop the hygiene team and team leader to deliver consistent high standards of hygiene each shift
Culture – To develop a hygiene team that drives continuous improvement whilst following all food safety and HSE procedures each shift
Effective work scheduling of team to ensure full task completion each shift
Recruitment – responsible for maintaining staffing levels
To ensure that appropriate equipment is available and maintained to all the hygiene team to operate within safe working practices
Hygiene SOP’s and Periodic schedules – ensuring the system reflects current working practices
Hygiene verification – ensure standards are verified, chemical concentrations always checked to be able to demonstrate due diligence
Continuous improvements projects – actively involved and promote new ideas
Liaise with chemical provider, chemical stock management and chemical ordering to deliver within a set budget
To work to agreed KPI’s for hygiene standards
To hold daily handovers with the production/engineering function to communicate hygiene issues
To effectively communicate daily hygiene issues to the management team
To effectively communicate departmental issues to your hygiene team and team leader
