Phlebotomist/Drug Screening Technician (Part-Time)

Our dynamic collections team is searching for a qualified Part-Time Phlebotomist/Drug Screening Technician with personality, exceptional people skills and a positive attitude.

This is a 14 hour per week part time position based in Gastonia, NC on Mondays and Charlotte, NC on Wednesdays.

Position Summary

The Phlebotomist/Drug Screening Technician, under the direction of the Drug Screening Supervisor, is accountable for ensuring that all collections are completed accurately and on time. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe and professional environment for clients, and to perform with confidence all aspects of the testing, including specimen collection and processing duties following the established practices and procedures.

The schedule

Monday – 9:00AM to 4:00pm – Gastonia, NC

Friday – 9:00AM to 4:00pm – Charlotte, NC

Essential Responsibilities

• Collect urine specimens for drug screenings.

• Obtain blood specimens by performing venipunctures and finger sticks.

• Ensure all specimens are collected accurately and on time.

• Maintain specimen integrity by following department procedures, observing isolation procedures.

• Track collected specimens by initialing, dating, and noting times of collection maintaining daily tallies of collections performed.

• Maintain quality results by following department procedures and testing schedule; recording results in the quality-control log; identifying and reporting needed changes.

• Verify test requisitions by reading test orders.

• Verify patient by reading patient identification.

• Maintain professional boundaries with clients.

• Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.

• Resolve unusual test orders by contacting the physician; referring unresolved orders back to the originator for further clarification; notifying supervisor of unresolved orders.

• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

• Enhance laboratory department by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

• Maintain the highest levels of customer care while demonstrating a friendly and cooperative attitude.

  Position Qualifications

• One (1) year experience in blood sticks/draws required.

• Experience collecting urine samples is a plus.

• High school diploma

• Ability to handle large, fluctuating volumes of work.

• Ability to travel to offsite locations.

• Strong PC, keyboarding and typing skills.

• Strong customer focus

• Must have reliable transportation.
