This role will report to the Manager of Controls Software Development in Australia and is part of a team that follows the Scrum software development framework. The key responsibilities of this role include – Developing high quality controls software for PLCs and/or other real time controller platforms that support a wide range of conveyor and sortation solutions, warehouse automation, and distribution operations – Developing higher-level software tools/applications to support the configuration and deployment of controls software products by our regional Project Engineering and Customer Service groups. – Co-develop successive releases of controls software products in coordination with product champions. This includes the performance of complex design, maintenance, enhancement, testing, implementation, and support of these products – Undertake complex reviews of requirements and limitations of existing systems and make needed improvements to stabilize/upgrade, ensuring the systems are performing optimally – Perform presentations of complex technical findings and developments. – Train regional product champions in order to efficiently deploy the developed software products.

Tasks and Qualifications:

• Bachelor or higher degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science
• Experience in PLC or real-time controller programming. Hands-on experience within the Automated Material Handling Systems or similar industry is beneficial
• Experience in designing and developing software using a higher-level or object-oriented language such as C#, C++, C, Java, Visual Basic
• Experience in an agile development environment is beneficial
• Some experience in HMI/SCADA/GUI development is beneficial
• A passion for excellence, a keen and proven interest in software and programming as well as robotics and automation
• The ability to work in a team environment
• The technical skills to produce software (PLC and higher-level) of a high quality, and the drive to complete tasks within the required time frame
• An understanding of high quality professional software development. This includes aspects of designing, developing, testing, documenting, enhancing, maintaining, and supporting this software
• The ability to set standards within your assigned technical area and mentor more junior engineers
• The ability to work collaboratively with peer technical leads with the intention of standardising development amongst global development teams
