Trade Assistants – Hutt Workshops

The Rolling Stock Asset Services (RSAS) group has overall responsibility and ownership for managing KiwiRail’s rolling stock assets, including:

• mainline and shunt locomotives
• freight and specialist wagons
• containers
• passenger carriages
• other rolling stock vehicles and equipment.

Our Hutt workshops has many projects coming up. These projects may include modifications, refurbishment and overhaul of existing rolling stock, or development and delivery of new rolling stock or specialized equipment.

Your new role:

In this role you will support qualified Tradespeople and Team Leaders. This will include but is not limited to the following activities:

• Scheduled Maintenance checks
• Out of course repairs
• Provisioning and servicing of vehicles
• Incident recovery and repairs
• Other maintenance activities as directed

Ideal candidate:

Our ideal candidates would be:

• Completing or completed their pre-trade qualifications
• Some experience in the industry – with no formal qualifications
• But, most importantly mechanically minded with a can-do attitude
