Contract type: 8-week FTC (June 2023 – end July 2023)
What is Working in Infrastructure & Government Like?
“Working with the Infrastructure & Government team within KPMG’s Corporate Finance department over the past 6 months has been very enjoyable and rewarding.
There is a great team culture in I&G and everyone helps each other out. I was made welcome from the very start and quickly integrated within the team as everyone helped me settle in and gave me advice when I needed it.
The work we do is very interesting as it spans across a wide variety of infrastructure sectors including transport, utilities, and energy. I have gained broad professional experience on financial evaluations, asset management, and economic appraisals of infrastructure projects. These advisory projects are really rewarding as we work together in a team to help clients overcome a broad range of challenges.
I would highly recommend working within KPMG’s Infrastructure & Government team to anyone who wants to challenge themselves, develop their business skills and gain vast experience working in strategic infrastructure advisory through team-led client projects.”
Brian McKeown, Placement- Infrastructure & Government
What Training & Support Will I Get?
At KPMG, we understand that the transition from college to working life can be daunting.
We support all of our Placements through:
- A dedicated Performance Manager
- A Buddy System
- ‘Aspire & Ignite’ Development Programme
The support provided by the KPMG Business School and the ‘Aspire & Ignite’ Development Programme will be exemplary right from the beginning of your time here.
Your first day will involve induction training, where you will get an insight into the different departments, get your laptop set up, get information on all the extra-curricular activities that you can get involved in – and most importantly get to know everyone in your Placement Programme group. The induction training is a great way to gradually get you ready for office life. Following on from this you will have IT virtual training and e-learnings, which allow you to become confident and familiar with the IT systems in KPMG.
The training and support does not end here. In KPMG, Placements have training sessions monthly. These involve team building skills, nutritional talks, and development days where you’re supported in your integration into the working world.
Life @ KPMG:
“As a Placement, the first few days consisted of training where we learnt more about the different KPMG business units. We also received training on the different Microsoft Office tools such as PowerPoint and Excel. We then joined our teams and started to get involved on projects.
At KPMG we have hybrid working policy and this has really helped me to integrate into the team.
As part of the exciting projects I have worked on I have had the opportunity to attend virtual client meetings as well as an in-person Women in Business Conference. Since I joined in September KPMG also held an ESG Festival week with events including a live cooking demonstration from the Happy Pear.
There is the opportunity to join the KPMG Konnect Committee which organises social events for the Placements at KPMG including a quiz and more recently the Placement Christmas Party.
There is a buzzing social life at KPMG with lots of events especially around Christmas time.”
