This position will be responsible for the preparation of laboratory quantities of paint, color matching, and applying and testing of coatings. Scale-up and trial run samples will routinely be prepared. Various paint preparation methods and application techniques are used. The work is directed by a chemist and results are discussed with the chemist and recorded electronically. This position assists in testing of batches to support Quality Control as necessary.
Duties and responsibilities / Tasks
· Conduct chemical or physical laboratory tests to assist scientists in making qualitative or quantitative analyses of solids or liquids
· Compile and interpret results of tests and analyses
· Monitor product quality to ensure compliance with standards and specifications
o Analyzing Data or Information — Identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts
o Evaluating Information to Determine Compliance with Standards — Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards
o Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings — Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems
· Provide and maintain a safe work environment
· Provide technical support or assistance to chemists
· Order and inventory materials to maintain supplies
· Write technical reports or prepare graphs or charts to document experimental results
o Interacting With Computers — Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information
· Direct or monitor other workers producing chemical products
· Calibrate, validate, or maintain laboratory equipment
o Inspecting Equipment, Structures, or Material — Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects
· When needed, assists Quality Control Technician
· Performs all clerical duties as required by position, including filing, SDS, etc.
o Documenting/Recording Information — Entering, transcribing, recording, storing, or maintaining information in written or electronic/magnetic form
· Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates — Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person

Experience / Education

A associate degree in Science is helpful, but not required.
Working conditions
This job is exposed to Hazardous Conditions every day. Wearing of proper safety equipment such as glasses, safety shores is required daily.
