Location – Union Street Chorley office base but currently working from home
The Children Missing Education Team ensure the Local Authority fulfils its statutory duty to make arrangements to enable them to identify children and young people in their area who are not registered pupils at a school and are not receiving suitable education otherwise than at a school. The CME team also tracks children out of the authority who have moved away from Lancashire but have not been registered in educational provision elsewhere.
Working in a busy environment, you will use your technical and problem-solving skills to carry out the work of the CME team, maintaining our information management systems, investigating referrals from our stakeholders, identifying safeguarding issues and referring to partners, ascertaining the whereabouts of children referred to the team, engaging hard to reach families with the education admission process and where required, initiating legal interventions.
Applicants must be educated to A-level or equivalent and have experience of using Microsoft Office computer software as well as specialised ICT systems and/or software.
Applicants must have experience of working with children/young people and/or families in an education or social work setting, experience of working with schools and working in a multi-agency setting.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are essential, as well as the ability to work independently, manage a caseload, maintain good records and work as part of a team.
Applicants must have knowledge of education law in relation to school registration and attendance.

Please note, the team are all currently working from home and there is an expectation that the successful applicant will also work in this way for the majority of the time whilst the organisation reviews the current office working strategy. However, there will be an expectation that the successful candidate will attend the office base regularly as part of their induction process and there will still be a requirement to carry out visits to families and schools.
The post holder may be required to travel to various locations across Lancashire and a driving licence and own vehicle will be necessary.
