PSHE Teacher
Our Secondary Special school in Dorking is seeking a full-time PSHE Teacher to start immediately. The appointed candidate will be joining a friendly and effective team and will be passionate about promoting a healthy lifestyle with the determination to provide high quality PSHE teaching to KS3 and KS4 students with mental health needs and challenging behaviour.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have UK QTS.
- Be highly motivated, passionate about their subject, and experienced in delivering lessons to pupils with Social Emotional and Mental Health needs.
- A willingness to be creative when adapting teaching strategies to ensure specific learning needs and styles are delivered to suit all pupils.
- Have excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Have or willing to apply for an Enhanced DBS.
- Able to commit full-time between December 2022 and July 2023.
Key responsibilities:
- To effectively plan lessons that are well-structured to a wide range of abilities, social, emotional and communication needs to ensure all students are able to participate and reach their full potential.
- To organise a person-centered learning environment allowing students to take ownership of their own.
- Liaise with other members of the team as well as with parents/carers in the support of learners.
- Promote good student behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict.
- Develop a holistic approach to meeting Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, enabling learners to make good progress.
- Promote equality of opportunity and diversity in all aspects of the job and challenge inequality and discrimination and/or report concerns as appropriate.
- Work as a member of the team, planning cooperatively, sharing information, ideas, and expertise.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans, Personal Care and Therapy Care programmes for students.
- Establish relationships with students and interact with them according to individual needs.
Additional duties:
- Carry out administrative tasks related to courses and attend meetings as required by Senior Leadership Team.
- Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
- Support the Senior Leadership Team in all health and safety matters and take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work.
This role is not suitable for NQT (ECTs)
