The ideal candidate for this position would have the ability to work cohesively in a team-oriented environment, utilizing excellent communication and time management skills in support of the work group producing high-quality work products that are complete, accurate, and consistent.
INTRODUCTION: Human Resources will screen applications and supplemental questionnaires. Candidates possessing the strongest skills and experience for this position will be forwarded to the hiring department for further evaluation and to determine who will be invited to the formal interview process. The candidate hired will be required to pass a drug screening, background check and may be required to pass a job-related physical evaluation.
GENERAL PURPOSE
Under general supervision, creates, schedules and coordinates day-to-day inspection work orders for developer water facility construction projects; communicates with Inspection Supervisors to prioritize and assign work to Inspectors; communicates with customers, contractors and District staff to ensure the correct inspection tasks are scheduled and properly sequenced for projects in progress; monitors and processes project files to ensure all inspection steps are completed timely, including water sample and backflow tests, prior to project signoff; and performs related duties as assigned.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Basic knowledge of waterworks construction practices, methods and terminology particularly as related to the sequencing of developer project construction steps and the types of and prerequisites for inspections required for each step; operations and uses of a variety of business, engineering, permit application, inspection and other computer systems used in project work flow and inspection management activities, including data maintenance and retrieval methods and procedures; District standards, requirements and procedures and other city and county regulations applicable to assigned responsibilities; principles and practices of sound business communication; correct English usage, including spelling, grammar and punctuation; codes, methods and procedures for the use of two-way radios; general safety requirements and procedures pertaining to inspection work practices in the field; customer service practices and customer-oriented telephone etiquette.
Ability to:
Understand and apply information on the requirements for and sequencing of water facility construction projects to the scheduling of correct inspection tasks and activities; operate computers and a variety of business, engineering, permit application, inspection and other computer systems to coordinate and manage project work flow and inspection management activities; read engineering drawings and interpret a variety of information regarding projects and inspection workflows; interpret, apply, explain and reach sound decisions in accordance with policies, standards, laws and regulations; work collaboratively with engineering construction staff, inspectors, developers, contractors, customers and representatives of other public agencies to complete inspection tasks timely and in accordance with all requirements; quickly, efficiently, courteously and calmly handle a significant volume of inquiries and interactions under standard and emergency conditions; prepare clear, accurate and concise records and materials; use tact, discretion and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive situations and concerned individuals; coordinate necessary work between entities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers, supervisors, inspectors, contractors, customers, representatives of other public agencies, the public and others encountered in the course of work.
Training and Experience:
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent, and five years of increasingly responsible office administrative experience, at least one year of which provided familiarity with trades, construction and/or inspection practices, procedures and priorities; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

A valid Nevada driver’s license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District’s Vehicle Insurance Policy.
