Your New Role

We have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Software Engineer with application integration experience to support a multi-year Defence program to deliver an enterprise Health Knowledge Management System. This capability will enable better clinical decision making for the ADF and providing market leading healthcare to ADF personnel.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing services that will support an integrated Health Knowledge Management System that delivers a wide range of clinical functions. The successful candidate will also be able to lead and mentor a team of software engineers.

Joining the team at an early stage you will be an active contributor to the projects overall success. You will work closely with and participate in design reviews with the security, engineering and development teams to ensure the system infrastructure components meet requirements.

Leading integration activities during delivery you will contribute to a successful program by:

• Enhancing CI/CD processes to cater for integration service development
• Developing and extending best practice integration development standards and guidelines
• Coaching less experienced developers
• Identifying potential risks and issues, and mitigations to resolve them

About You and What You Will Bring

• Previous experience as a Senior Software and leading a team of developers
• Demonstrated experience designing, developing and testing of enterprise services
• Experience with Health specific integration protocols (HL7, FHIR) and medical device integration standards
• Demonstrated experience developing interface specifications and interface control documentation.
• 5 years’ experience in a large-scale systems integration environment that included responsibilities for integration service design and implementation specification development.
• Demonstrated experience developing solution architecture, including solution architecture patterns such as Micro Services Architecture, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) and Integration Platforms
• TOGAF Architecture Framework experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Qualifications in, or demonstrated experience of development within a systems engineering lifecycle environment and standard Agile methodologies.
• Experience building robust RESTful APIs and SOAP-based Web Services;
• Self-starter; demonstrates initiative and can take accountability to deliver on-time outcomes.
• Experience developing enterprise application architectures.

Desirable

• Hands-on experience with Mirth Connect, Rabbit MQ,
• A genuine passion for hands-on coding, and an aptitude for problem-solving in an extremely fast-paced, collaborative environment
• Advanced data modeling skills

Baseline cleared (NV1 preferred), or willing to obtain and maintain Defence Security Clearance.
