Job Summary
We’re hiring an Engineer IV – Test to design and develop test plans and procedures for the verification and validation of RF hardware, digital hardware, firmware and software. Key to this role is the ability to design and implement an overall modular test strategy to support multiple product lines. Includes working with subject matter experts to develop and support comprehensive test concepts for full design verification of products and sub-systems. Positoin is located in our Germantown, MD office and offers some remote flexibility* .
Job Responsibilities
Responsible for driving technology and completion of one or more complex activities on time and budget.
Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of complex products, systems or subsystems, includes but not limited to development of test code using Labview and Python
Provide Engineering support for ongoing development in order to test high-end RF products (Receivers, Transmitters, Software Defined Radios)
Supporting various manufacturing production lines to maintain production flow when necessary
Review customer specifications and requirements, develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable
Provide budget, cost and schedule input for design assignments
Document components and subsystem specifications and material requirements
Analyze designs as necessary
Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems and services
Support the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements
Develop prototypes to retire key development risks
Interact with technical management, other professionals, technicians and support personnel to coordinate, recommend and confer regarding technical activities and progress
Provide technical expertise and assistance to other engineers and support personnel
May mentor and coach the work of others as assigned
May participate in the preparation of complex and significant proposals
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 8 years of experience including 5 years in software development
Relevant experience may be substituted for degree
Experience with writing test procedures and protocols to assess product reliability and evaluates the ability of products to meet performance standards and specifications
Experience with debugging test hardware and software
Proficient in Python and NI LabVIEW and the development of testing concepts
Experience working with analog RF and digital aspect of radio design preferred
Familiarity with lab equipment (such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators, network analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.)
Experience with test methodologies, writing test plans, writing test scripts, creating test cases, and debugging for testing during development
Experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred
Able to multi-task, self-assign work, and function in a dynamic environment
Able to work independently and determine methods/procedures on new/special assignments
*This position has the option of being either fully onsite in our Germantown facility or partly remote (onsite Tues-Thurs). Must live within commuting distance of the designated facility regardless of choice.
