The Jr. Web Developer writes code for and develops Company websites and web-related projects, working with internal clients and colleagues. As the Jr. Web Developer, you’ll write well-designed, testable code within deadline and on budget, while working alongside graphic designers to create functioning, content-ready websites for multiple brands within Lettuce Entertain You Restaurants.

Essential Functions

• Following Company standards and best practices, write well-designed, testable, efficient code within established deadlines and budgets, including (when required) matching visual design intent with other Company web and graphic designers
• Work with graphic designers to prepare and present site design mockups and develop functioning websites, and work with marketing managers as needed to discern business needs for new website projects
• Maintain, support, update, expand and scale a variety of existing Company websites and their respective backend systems, including website development (Wordpress, custom solutions, etc.)
• Design and implement projects using LAMP, front-end (including HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, SCSS/SASS/LESS etc.), javascript, mySQL / SQL database, PHP, and varied other programming methodologies with an emphasis on ensuring cross-browser compatibility, mobile-first design and web performance
• Follow web accessibility standards related to providing all website users with access to information and functionality in compliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act and other relevant laws and regulations
• Maintain proficiency and safely and effectively use and operate all necessary tools, equipment and software
• Communicate effectively in order to perform and follow job requirements in written and spoken direction
• Multitask calmly and effectively under pressure
• Work in a confined, crowded space of variable light, noise and temperature levels
• Occasionally retrieve and distribute files or office supplies weighing up to 10 pounds
• Maintain availability to perform duties outside standard business hours on occasion as needed, including late nights and weekends

Key Responsibilities And Duties

• Work on eCommerce, custom apps, widgets and mobile-related development as needed/requested
• Support Social Media, Gift Card, Frequent Diner teams on project as needed
• Integrate data from various backend service and databases
• Participate in pair programming and code reviews.
• Maintain and expand knowledge of a diversity of emerging technologies, techniques and industry trends in online/digital marketing
• Demonstrate knowledge of using APIs
• Demonstrate a solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices
• Demonstrate basic knowledge of Search Engine Optimization process and Google Analytics
• Implement and maintain CMS Development including Wordpress
• Train, educate, and support management teams and marketing staff on respective websites’ CMS
• Follow all rules, policies, procedures and conditions of employment, including those outlined in the Employee Handbook
• Get along well with others and act as a team player
• Other duties assigned as needed
