General Summary:

Under the supervision of the Supervisor, Outpatient Substance Use
Disorder (SUD) Services, the Clinician, Jail Services position is
responsible for ensuring exceptional customer service and clinical care
to any consumer within the Jackson County Jail system requiring
intervention services. This position is responsible for providing timely
and clinically appropriate crisis interventions, screenings, brief
crisis therapy and referrals that adhere to the standards of LifeWays,
Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), Access
Standards, and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities
(CARF). This position requires the ability to foster positive engagement
with potential consumers that will assist them in beginning their path
to recovery.

Essential Functions:

• Provides screenings to determine:
  • The need for observation of an inmate in the medical unit of the
  • The need for an inmate to be seen by a
  • The need for an inmate to receive ongoing individual or group
    counseling (either for mental health or substance use disorders)
  • Crisis intervention services
• Coordination of care for those inmates preparing for release
• Develop a treatment plan for inmates that require:
  • Intervention by a psychiatrist
  • Individual or group therapy
• Provides trauma-sensitive and recovery-focused services that result
  in a positive experience for the jail inmate.
• Responsible for working closely with provider network staff,
  hospital County Jail staff, and natural supports to develop
  clinically sound diversion and safety planning when
• Theclinicianwilldetermineifthepersonisinanacutementalhealthcrisisandinneedofcrisisinterventions
  or stabilization in the jail
• Those that are acutely in a mental health crisis will be fully
  assessed with appropriate interventions implemented by the clinician
  while onsite(i.e.,de-escalation, crisis counseling, and safety
  planning with jail staff).
• Responsible for accurate and clinically competent documentation of
  all information regarding consumer treatment in electronic medical
  record within timeliness
• Responsible for ensuring coordination both internally and externally
  by routing appropriate documents for all consumers referred in a
  timely
• Work a non-traditional schedule which may include evenings, weekends
  and/or
• Assist with LifeWays Outpatient Services, providing Therapy
  Services, as
• Responsible for adherence to all Commission on Accreditation of
  Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and Michigan Department of Health
  and Human Services (MDHHS) standards.

Required Education/Certification/Licensure:

• Master’s degree in human service field.
• Appropriate licensure with the State of Michigan.
