EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Actual daily time spent in any activity fluctuates depending on assigned responsibilities and the particular position within the department. The position may also include other duties as assigned. Incidental or non-essential functions are not included.Process accounts payable by verifying accuracy of vouchers, invoices, statements, and receipts. Enter information into record management systems.Compile reports for County Commissioners and other County Departments. Track and monitor corrections. Perform stop payments and answer accounts payable questions from vendors and other departments.Process and prepare vouchers for payment. Research and resolve billing issues. Verify purchases and reimbursements. Maintain compliance to bidding laws and county procedures. Prepare and mails checks and finalize voucher processing.Enter accounting data and other accounting records in the computer according to established methods and procedures. Check for accuracy and completeness. Make routine adjustments and maintain various receipts/expenditure ledgers, making divisions by fund, individual or budgetary account in accordance with policies and procedures.Aid and provide information to other departments and the public through direct, mail, and phone contact.Analyze work processes to create written documentation of work processes and suggest improvement in workflow.Request W-9 information from vendors. Coordinate with other County staff regarding yearly transfer of information to Internal Revenue Service. Order and mail 1099 to vendors. Monitor and communicates changes in relevant laws.Assist with completion of county elections, process absentee ballots, answer voter questions, and help with general flow of events on election days.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED plus three to four years of clerical accounting experience. Comparable combination of education and experience may be considered. Must successfully complete pre-employment background process.
