Little Mountain Online

LMLA’s online program is available to students around the world who wish to develop their English language skills. We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, energetic ESL teacher who can teach children aged 4-15 online at times suitable for students in Asian time zones. The ideal candidate will have experience and aptitude teaching younger learners.

As part of the online teaching team, you will have a set schedule and teach the same students over the course of their studies. Curriculum, lesson plans, and training are provided, as well as continuous support from our admin team. Even while working remotely, you’ll always have someone there to help should you need it.

The important stuff

Job Summary: Teach online using LMLA’s online program and platform to students aged 4 and up. Students are based mostly in Asia, with some from Canada and other parts of the world.

Start date for paid training: August 15, 2022

Hours: Teaching blocks are set to accommodate students living in Asia, so we are looking for candidates who are available to teach online up to 6 days per week from 6am to 9:15am Eastern Daylight Time in Canada (5am to 8:15am Eastern time during winter hours).

Further teaching hours can be added depending on availability, particularly Friday and/or Saturday evenings between 6pm and 10pm Eastern Daylight Time in Canada (i.e. Saturday and/or Sunday mornings between 6am and 10am CST).

Wage: $25 – $26 CAD per hour depending on experience and qualifications. Classes are 40 minutes in length and teachers have a 10-minute paid break between classes, as well as additional paid time for homework checking and administrative tasks. For longer shifts, a 30-minute unpaid break will be scheduled accordingly.

Training: There will be a period of paid training ($20 CAD per hour) prior to the first live class. Paid training will run for 5-8 hours according to experience and availability.

What we’re looking for:

• Legal work status in Canada and ability to qualify for a Vulnerable Sector Screening check from your local Canadian police detachment (paid for by Little Mountain)

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher (English or Education degrees preferred)

• Minimum 120-hour TESOL/TEFL or equivalent qualification

• Minimum of 1 year teaching experience (preference given to those who’ve worked online with children previously)

• Experience with younger learners, from kindergarten through primary grades

• A computer with good internet connection and speed

• A quiet space to deliver the classes (not a cafe or other public space)
