We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our School of Education which has a long and proud history in education studies, SEND, childhood and community studies, teacher education and sector leading postgraduate provision. We have a reputation for outstanding graduates. You will be responsible for the School’s Education and Early Childhood portfolio: featuring a dynamic range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including our prestigious Doctor of Education.

The School of Education at LJMU, is renowned for the quality and strength of its undergraduate and postgraduate curricula, along with a growing reputation for international partnerships and collaborative research. There are approximately 700 current students within the Education and Early Childhood Subject Area. Student experience is at the heart of everything we do. The quality of our Programmes and the development of socially engaged practitioners and educational leaders – delivered through a team of committed and forward-thinking academic teams, is recognised by Ofsted and in the wider community. The successful candidate will have the capability to build on the existing strong foundations and achievements in the Subject Area, while also having the vision and ambition to respond to the future challenges and opportunities of this vital role within the School.

As a key member of the School’s leadership team, this senior level post will require high-level strategic understanding of relevant external and internal environments and proven experience in the sector to respond to the intensive and particular demands this brings. A strong and nuanced understanding of the UK educational landscape, complex policy implications and regulatory requirements of the Office for Students (OfS) and the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), is essential. Effective recruitment and sustained retention, progression and positive graduate outcomes for our students is also a critical focus of this role.
