The Software Engineer will be part of a small multi-disciplinary team of engineers responsible for delivering simulation products and services to external customers.
The Software Engineer will also be responsible for developing software for other business units across Australia. The software required is diverse in nature spanning from tools to assist productivity to integration of third party applications.
Major Accountabilities
- Develop and maintain standard YAU simulation software according to defined software requirements
- Develop and support project specific simulation software that achieves customer defined specifications
- Provide recommendations for future direction of software development
- Troubleshoot software issues for project teams
- Provide guidance for simulator hardware and software architecture accounting for current and future developments in technology
- Maintain large code base for Simulation team
- Follow full SDLC for new applications for Simulation team and Industrial Automation business.
- Support software development projects by Simulation Engineers (i.e. people not trained in s/w development).
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Software Engineering/ Computer Science
Required Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of professional software development experience in delivering mid to large sized software projects
- Strong Object-Oriented programming skills
- Solid programming skills in C++/C#
- 5+ years of programming experience in C, C++, VC++, MFC, C#, Winforms/WPF, .Net 4.0+
- Experience in Multi-threading, and Memory and Performance optimization
- Clean Coding practices and SOLID Principles
- Experience in maintaining large code base
- Source Control: Perforce or any other SCM tools such as GIT
- Experienced in development of software for both Windows and Linux platforms
- Software development and operational experience with databases
- Working knowledge of distributed systems
- GUI design and development experience
- 3+ years of experience with virtualisation technologies
- Experience with MS Office suite
