Job Summary
Branch Librarian is an entry-level post within the Library Service. Branch Librarians make a valuable contribution to the provision of the library service at local branch level by delivering frontline services and by providing support to library management. The duties of the Branch Librarian shall be consistent with the provision of a modern public library service that is responsive to the changing requirements of customers of all ages and abilities. The ideal candidate for this post will be a highly motivated person, with drive and commitment to delivering quality public services.
BRANCH LIBRARIAN CHARLESTOWN (PART TIME – 25 HOURS PER WEEK)
This panel will be used initially to fill a part time Branch Librarian vacancy in Charlestown Library and Arts Centre. The Branch Librarian reports directly to the Librarian/Executive Librarian.
Together with carrying out Branch Librarian duties as outlined on Page 5 of this booklet, the person employed for the Charlestown Library will also oversee the Arts Centre with key duties including:
- Supervision of bookings from communities and groups.
- Promotion of the space to the community and to arts, heritage and sports groups.
- Oversee security and building management (alarm, key holder, heat and light etc).
