We have an exciting career opportunity to join our team as a HR Advisor based in Trentham. The Defence sector is a growing, dynamic and fulfilling industry – this role provides an opportunity to gain experience in this exciting domain. We are flexible to have this role as full-time or part-time 0.8 FTE.

Working within a CoE HR model, this role is an important member of a team of HR team engaged with our business and leaders to achieve our business objectives. This is diverse, challenging and rewarding position and will support a portfolio of NZ geographic locations, as part of a NZ based HR team.

Supported by the HR Manager, some of the activities you will undertake:

• Provide HR advice and guidance to a range of stakeholders across the Company
• Build and sustain professional, collaborative relationships with management and employees to ensure the acknowledgement of HR as a business partner that adds value to commercial interests.
• Provide strategic, responsive generalist HR support, partnering with client groups to identify issues and opportunities.
• Proactively support the development and delivery of effective best practice HR services and programs, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, legislation, and specialist programs and initiatives.
• Work effectively with leaders to coordinate and resolve complex employee relations issues, providing coaching, counselling, and career development and disciplinary advice, and conducting effective, thorough and objective investigations where required
• Partner with HR Centres of Expertise (COE’s) to ensure that strategies and processes are optimised.

Ideally we are seeking:

• Experience in a similar generalist HR role
• Demonstrated results in developing and implementing HR solutions
• Ability to coach and mentor people leaders to enhance the overall capability in HR practice
• Substantial knowledge of current New Zealand employment law and HR practices
• Experience in an defence/industrial/supply chain based industry would desirable but not required.

As this role will support several NZ domestic sites, some short stay or day based domestic travel will be required.

To be considered for this role you must be able to obtain and maintain a Confidential Government Security Clearance. See minimum criteria below:

most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 5 years, OR

is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 5 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS

You will also be required to undergo pre-employment activities including drug screening and vetting by NZ Police.
