Positions Summary:

Maintains par levels of quality medical supplies and equipment in the main central supply area and on the nursing floors, ensuring cost- effectiveness as well as compliance with applicable federal, state, and local standards. Applies competitive purchasing practicing for medical supplies and equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides input regarding organization, use and adequacy of general storage areas, maintaining storage practices in accordance with health and sanitation standards, inventory control and proper utilization.

Facilitates interdepartmental cooperation in efficient purchasing and storage practices.

Applies competitive and equivalent purchases practices.

Develops and manages the system of purchasing all medical supplies and equipment.

Participates in health-related programs which promote development and utilization of manpower and product resources.

Reviews Medicaid pharmacy invoices for accuracy.

Obtains pre- authorization for medications according to resident Medicare plans.

Performs all tasks and duties in an efficient and safe manner.

Performs other related duties as assigned or as necessary. Remains flexible and adaptable in work schedules and work assignments as defined by departmental and facility needs.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma required.

Proficient in use of computers.

1 -3 years experience in purchasing/materials management preferred.

Must be able to effectively communicate with older adults in a manner that conveys warmth and professionalism.
