WHAT WE DO
The Careers, Work Experience & Progression team works across college to help prepare students for their next steps, through activities such as coordinating work experience placements, carrying out careers guidance interviews, and supporting curriculum departments with the delivery of careers education.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the team as an Engagement Careers Pathways Officer, providing impartial information, advice and guidance for students, and developing resources and leading cross-college and external projects to ensure that students enrolling to entry and level 1 provision have fit for purpose pre entry and on-course guidance and intervention to inform their course and progression choices.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Provide one-to-one careers information, advice and guidance to students Deliver curriculum based group work and targeted interventions focused to raise the aspirations of students with lower attainment levels
Develop and apply knowledge of Career and Labour Market Intelligence to meet student and staff needs, and raise awareness of career opportunities and pathways
Work with Careers, Work Experience & Progression colleagues to develop, curate and disseminate CEIAG resources to inspire engagement with career pathways and intended destinations
Initiate and develop effective working relationships with Curriculum Departments, Student Recruitment and Admissions (School Liaison) and feeder schools to identify young people that may require pre entry guidance and on-course guidance
YOUR PROFILE
Minimum of Level 4 qualification in Careers Guidance (or a commitment to undertake in the first 6 months of post)
Experience of delivering information, advice and guidance in an education setting
Knowledge and understanding of the impact of low attainment levels and/or low self confidence on post 16 course selection and future employment
Knowledge of the local, regional and national labour markets
Knowledge of careers education, employability, post 16 study programme, Gatsby Benchmarks and the National Careers Strategy
Able to develop effective relationships with young people, college staff and external partners
Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
