Diversity matters
We are building a brand that represents the people of the world. It’s what you do that counts, and we are always looking to expand perspectives and voices to shape our future.
We see you, we celebrate you, we want you!
Who we are
You might know us as the inventors of the bath bomb, but there’s more to this great-smelling, partly employee-owned, family-run company than pioneering cosmetics. We believe our business should put more back into the world than it takes and demonstrate that capitalism can be a force for good. We put our people first and fight cruel practices like animal testing, promote regeneration, and show that it is what’s inside that counts – whether that’s an ingredient in a product, or the minerals in a smartphone.
The team
We continually strive to create, innovate, improve and test cosmetic products that are environmentally friendly, free from preservatives, beneficial to the consumer, and cruelty-free. We have always campaigned against animal testing and supported innovation in the field of animal-free testing through “The Lush Prize” hosted in partnership with Ethical Consumer.
9 years ago, we decided that just not testing on animals was not enough and started to commission our own human cell culture testing of raw materials and finished products. This testing program is now underway alongside our human volunteer program. We are now looking for a Support member to join the business working alongside our Toxicologist and Regulatory Affairs team. You will be in charge of creating Safety Data Sheets, calculating the natural content of the finished products, gathering impurities information from the suppliers and analysing them, and supporting human safety assessment of finished products and ingredients.
Responsibilities:
Input finished product information onto the system to create as well as doing the maintenance of the SDS for Australia, Germany, and the UK
Calculation of the natural content of finished products
Gathering impurities information to the suppliers and inputting them into a database
Analysis of the impurities information given by the suppliers, classify the ingredients, and determine if we need to conduct our own testing on a regular basis on them
Support human safety assessment of finished products and ingredients
Manage, query, review, and analyze large chemical and biological data sets
Bibliographic review of raw materials and fragrances
You must be passionate about In-vitro Toxicology and have the right attitude to work collaboratively with our R&D teams. We are looking for someone who shares our ethical values and takes pride in the quality of their work, whilst being able to build good working relationships.
Skills and experience:
Minimum of a degree in biology, chemistry, or toxicology
An understanding of toxicology and the assessment methods
Knowledge in in-vitro testing of chemicals
Bibliographical research
Experience in cosmetics would be appreciated
Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills
Computer literate
Confident with data management
