Unit Secretary – IPAC
Temporary Full Time (approximately 13 months)
As part of the Western York Region IPAC Hub, the Unit Secretary is the first point of contact for Long Term Care Homes, Retirement Homes, Group Homes, Shelters, Hospices, Treatment Centres to be connected with supports related to Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) support.
Contribute to safe, quality care by:
- Schedule Mobile IPAC team to provide education, audits and training to congregate settings in our Hub.
- Work as a liaison between the hospital and congregate settings, in collaboration with Public Health, to facilitate effective communication to assist with timely transfers and discharges of residents and clients during outbreaks.
- Provides congregate settings with a weekly check in and update to services offered by the IPAC Hub. Weekly check-in is provided by phone or email.
- Provides regular, ongoing surveillance to assess progress for all congregate settings in outbreak at least twice weekly, and more often when required.
- Input data information for activities in all congregate setting (ex. outbreaks)
- Accurate data keeping for sharing with key stakeholders, including Ontario Health and senior leadership team.
- Participates in daily corporate bed meeting and other meetings as required. Assists with preparation for and record keeping of required meetings.
- Work closely with Public Health and other community partner and stakeholders.
- Responds to telephone inquires.
- Additional duties as needed to support the IPAC Hub and its stakeholders
What must you have?
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Prior experience in an administrative/clerical role required, preferably within a healthcare environment. Keyboarding skills (40 wpm).
- Experience using an electronic medical record and scheduling system (Epic is preferred)
- Strong computer literacy in a Microsoft Office environment including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
