Description
Assist the Editor in Chief and an Executive Editor in a shared position. Executive Editor handles literary fiction, celebrity autobiography, diet & fitness, cookbooks and pop culture titles. Editor in Chief publishes politics from different perspectives, current affairs, narrative nonfiction, memoir/biography, popular science, and fiction. Great organization skills, a nose for prioritization, and stamina required for this busy editorial team.
What you’ll do:
Balancing work between two busy editors
Writing copy for launch meetings, jacket copy, online copy, and other book-related descriptive copy
Trafficking manuscripts, pdf versions of jackets, photos, and other necessary elements of books through various stages of production and approval
Reading and reporting on manuscripts submitted for consideration
Assist editors in author and agent correspondence for books
Take and circulate notes for the SMPG weekly editorial meeting
What you’ll bring:

Flexibility of reading taste to accommodate wide range of books and authors
Ideal Experience/Education:
Previous publishing experience (internship, college courses in publishing, literary agency) helpful
Experience in writing and revising copy, e.g. campus newspaper or magazine or other media that required writing skills.
