Deadline to submit application February 17, 2022 at 3:00PM.NATURE OF WORKThis position involves light and physical work in connection with the maintenance and operation of County Road facilities and rights-of-way. Employees are responsible for operating light mechanized equipment, as well as heavier equipment, during the construction and maintenance of roads. May also operate pick-up trucks and dump trucks when necessary. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Road Department Director who determines work priority. As a general rule, this employee specializes in the operation of one specific piece of equipment at any one time, however, he/she must be familiar with all types of Road Department equipment and their operation.JOB DUTIES may include but are not limited to the following:-Operating various types of light mechanized equipment such as tractors, mowers, rollers, mixers, brooms, and pick-up trucks used in the maintenance of road right-of-ways.-Operating heavier equipment such as motor graders, front end loaders, backhoes, brush cutters (boom mowers), etc. during the construction and maintenance of roads and right-of-ways.-Hauling equipment to job sites via heavy truck/trailer combination-Performing maintenance and servicing vehicles/equipment such as checking and adding fuel, oil, grease, water, and air; checking brakes; changing tires; and cleaning and washing vehicles orequipment-Requesting major vehicle or equipment maintenance and repairs when required and assisting Mechanic/Shop Supervisor if needed to make such repairs-Performing manual work associated with equipment usage.-Performing other job duties as assigned by supervisor including laborer and semi-skilledassignments when necessary to maintain work schedule.-Performing other related work as required.
