Manchester Metropolitan University is one of the UK’s largest and most popular Universities. The Department of Recruitment and Admissions plays a key role in recruiting and admitting new students to the University. As part of our student recruitment work we annually communicate with over 100,000 enquirers and applicants through campaigns and manage in excess of 40,000 visitors to our campuses and online. All our activities are designed to provide potential students with quality information, advice and guidance to help them make informed choices about going to university and Manchester Met.
As a Student Recruitment and Widening Participation Officer you will play a key role in making sure that potential students receive the very best information, advice and guidance about studying at Manchester Met. You will have specific responsibility for the recruitment and widening participation activity delivered by the School of Digital Arts (SODA), and will therefore work closely with academics and senior staff in the faculty to ensure activity is targeted, delivered and evaluated in line with faculty priorities.
You will be responsible for effectively managing our relationships with key feeder schools and colleges, and so you must have the ability to communicate the life changing benefits of higher education to a wide range of audiences. You will be responsible for planning, organising and delivering a range of School of Digital Arts related events, talks and activities designed to positively influence and showcase what the faculty has to offer.
You should have excellent communication skills and be confident working with a wide range of key stakeholders, internal and external. As a minimum you will need excellent knowledge and understanding of the university application process, 14-19 qualifications and student finance. Working independently for large periods you will have the skills to plan, write reports and make recommendations, prioritise and organise your workload and have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and virtual events platforms.
In recognition of staff contributions to the University’s achievements during the 2021/2022 academic year, an additional discretionary payment of 2% per annum will be added to your salary until 31/07/23 in order to ensure consistency amongst existing and incoming staff. This additional 2% will be paid pro rata in equal monthly installments, on top of your salary each month until 31/07/23.
Manchester Metropolitan University is committed to supporting the rights, responsibilities, dignity, health and wellbeing of staff and students through our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
We promote applications from all sections of the community, irrespective of background, belief or identity, recognising the benefits that a diverse organisation can bring . We particularly encourage applications from Black and Minority Ethnic candidates, who we recognise are underrepresented in this area.
Hybrid working is offered for this role, where you will be able to work a proportion of time on campus and a proportion remotely. We recognise the benefits and importance of an environment that supports flexible working and are open to conversations throughout the application process.
