Mayor's Office of Contract Services
The Bureau of Planning and Budget is looking to hire a Community Associate to support the increasing emphasis placed on managing headcount by community district. The candidate will complete various headcount assignments that will affect DSNY services to the communities (refuse, recycling, snow etc.)
The candidate will monitor the community impact of electronic waste and organics tonnage through data input. Under supervision the candidate will provide data and cost reports that will assist in community improvements for the electronic waste and organics program.
Additionally, the candidate will assist in entering and monitoring commercial waste information by borough for Transfer Stations and Private Carters; this includes reviewing the impact the waste is having on communities through statistical analysis.
Minimum Qual Requirements
Qualification Requirements
1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” above.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook
- Excellent communicational skills
- Knowledge of FMS and PMS helpful
Additional Information
- Office experience as well as background dealing with members of the public
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
