The Clark County Department of Aviation is seeking qualified candidates for Administrative Secretary position. Provides varied secretarial and office administrative assistance to a division manager or department head and related supervisory and professional staff; may provide supervision to an office support staff.
This recruitment will establish an Open Competitive and Promotional list to fill current and/or future vacancies which may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by the office of Airport Experience and Employee Services.

Requirements
Equivalent to graduation from high school and five years of full-time general clerical experience, two years of which includes providing office, administrative and secretarial assistance to management and professional staff. Formal education in a related field may be substituted for experience up to a maximum of two years. Preference may be given to candidates with the ability to type 45 net words. Qualifying education and experience must be clearly documented in the “Education” and “Work Experience” sections of the application. Licenses and Certification: Specified positions may require possession of a valid Nevada Class C driver’s license at time of hire.
Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
Residency Requirement: Permanent employees must maintain a principal place of residency within the boundaries of Clark County and provide proof of compliance with Nevada motor vehicle registration and drivers’ license laws within 90 days of employment.
Background Check: Employment with the Department of Aviation is contingent upon completion of an education/experience background investigation, a fingerprint-based criminal history record check processed by the FBI, and upon the ability to be granted a security badge as mandated by the Transportation Security Administration. Note: all prospective hires must present two original government issued ID’s upon acceptance of job offer. Examples of acceptable ID’s include a Passport, Driver’s License or DMV issued ID, birth certificate, Social Security card, Voter Registration card, school issued ID with picture, etc.
Physical Demands
Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment, vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Examples of Duties
Receives and screens visitors and telephone calls, providing factual information which may require the interpretation of policies and procedures; takes messages or refers the caller to the proper person. Assists with the development and administration of the division budget including SAP data input; may prepare or maintain statistical, fiscal or payroll information. May provide lead direction or supervision to office support staff; may instruct staff in work procedures and/or review work for format, accuracy and consistency. Researches and compiles a variety of informational materials from sources both inside and outside the office; summarizes such information as directed. Types drafts and a wide variety of finished documents from stenographic notes, brief instructions, or prior materials; may use word processing equipment and input or retrieve data or prepare reports using an on-line or personal computer system. May attend meetings and prepare minutes as required; initiates specified correspondence independently for signature by appropriate management, supervisory or professional staff; reviews finished materials for completeness, accuracy, format, compliance with policies and procedures, and appropriate English usage. Organizes and maintains various office files, including personnel and tickler files; purges files as required. Follows up on projects, transmits information, and keeps informed of division activities. Schedules and arranges for meetings; organizes own work, sets priorities and meets critical deadlines. Opens and sorts mail and attaches pertinent backup materials; processes outgoing mail as required. Attends to a variety of office administrative details, such as travel, meeting and conference arrangements, equipment purchase and repair and personnel document preparation. Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit’s service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.

The County pays the monthly life insurance premium for eligible employees.Service Connected Disability Insurance: Eligible employees are covered by a Workman’s Compensation Program in accordance with the provisions of the Nevada Industrial Insurance Act (NRS Chapter 616) and the Nevada Occupational Diseases Act (NRS 617).Long-Term Disability Insurance: The County pays a monthly premium toward a long-term disability plan for eligible employees.Vacation: Vacation leave accrual is based on length of County employment. Initial accrual is at the rate of 3.08 vacation hours for each biweekly pay period.Sick Leave: Eligible employees accrue 3.7 hours of sick leave for each biweekly pay period. Employees completing 10 years of service accrue an additional .92 hours of sick leave per biweekly pay period.Miscellaneous Leaves: Court leave, military leave, parental leave, leave without pay, blood donor leave, education leave, and County promotional/transfer application examination leave are available (upon approval) for eligible permanent employees.Retirement: Full-time employees become a member of the Nevada State Public Employees Retirement System. Credit Union: Clark County employees and their families are eligible to join the Clark County Credit Union.Tuition Reimbursement: Subject to availability of funds, eligible employees may be awarded tuition reimbursement upon successful completion of pre-approved, job related courses.
