The Clark County Department of Aviation is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Airport Passenger Services Representative position. This position acts as the first public contact person for traveling public at McCarran airport, providing information and assistance; maintains liaison with airport tenants, and provides information and assistance as required.
This recruitment will establish an Open Competitive and Promotional list to fill current and/or future vacancies, which may occur within the next six (6) months, or may be extended as needed by the office of Airport Experience and Employee Services.

Requirements
Equivalent to graduation from high school and two years of full-time public contact experience. Conversational proficiency in at least one non-English language is desirable. Qualifying education and experience must be clearly documented in the “Education” and “Work Experience” sections of the application. Working Conditions: Work evening, night, weekend and holiday shifts.
Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
Residency Requirement: Permanent employees must maintain a principal place of residency within the boundaries of Clark County and provide proof of compliance with Nevada motor vehicle registration and drivers’ license laws within 90 days of employment.
Background Check: Employment with the Department of Aviation is contingent upon completion of an education/experience background investigation, a fingerprint-based criminal history record check processed by the FBI, and upon the ability to be granted a security badge as mandated by the Transportation Security Administration. Note: all prospective hires must present two original government issued ID’s upon acceptance of job offer. Examples of acceptable ID’s include a Passport, Driver’s License or DMV issued ID, birth certificate, Social Security card, Voter Registration card, school issued ID with picture, etc.
Customs and Border Protection Security Seal Program: Employment with the Department of Aviation in this job title is contingent upon a five year employment and residency history record check and the ability to present original identity based documentation in order to meet the requirements for a Security Seal.
Physical Demands
Mobility to work in a public services setting and use standard office equipment, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Stamina to stand and walk for extended periods of time; strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds with proper equipment. Accommodation may be made for some of these physical demands for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request such accommodation.
Examples of Duties
Staffs an information booth at an airport facility and provides information to the public regarding flight departure/arrival times, gate locations, baggage and cargo handling procedures and flight planning assistance. Provides surface public and private transportation information and basic tourism information, including points of interest and hotel locations. Provides information on international traveling requirements, such as custom’s procedures. Provides information on concessionaire types and locations. Provides factual information regarding general and charter aviation services. Maintains passenger line management and the set-up and breakdown of stanchions for queuing. Serve as roving ambassadors in various areas of the airport assisting passengers. Help maintain/enforce security policies and procedures throughout assigned areas of the airport. May be called upon to assist passengers with medical emergencies, and other problems; contacts appropriate emergency or airport staff as required; assists with alternative travel arrangements for handicapped or special needs passengers. Directs passengers to the proper locations and helps ensure their safety; provides special assistance to disabled patrons; assists with crowd control in specified situations. Performs Airport Lost and Found unit duties. May operate flight information display unit in an airport setting. Maintains records of types of inquiries, and other information related to the work. Maintains liaison and contact with airport tenants and provides information and assistance as required. Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit’s service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team. May provide work instruction and assist in training less experienced staff. Maintains a stock of brochures, maps and other informational materials at information booth locations.

The County pays the monthly life insurance premium for eligible employees.Service Connected Disability Insurance: Eligible employees are covered by a Workman’s Compensation Program in accordance with the provisions of the Nevada Industrial Insurance Act (NRS Chapter 616) and the Nevada Occupational Diseases Act (NRS 617).Long-Term Disability Insurance: The County pays a monthly premium toward a long-term disability plan for eligible employees.Vacation: Vacation leave accrual is based on length of County employment. Initial accrual is at the rate of 3.08 vacation hours for each biweekly pay period.Sick Leave: Eligible employees accrue 3.7 hours of sick leave for each biweekly pay period. Employees completing 10 years of service accrue an additional .92 hours of sick leave per biweekly pay period.Miscellaneous Leaves: Court leave, military leave, parental leave, leave without pay, blood donor leave, education leave, and County promotional/transfer application examination leave are available (upon approval) for eligible permanent employees.Retirement: Full-time employees become a member of the Nevada State Public Employees Retirement System. Credit Union: Clark County employees and their families are eligible to join the Clark County Credit Union.Tuition Reimbursement: Subject to availability of funds, eligible employees may be awarded tuition reimbursement upon successful completion of pre-approved, job related courses.
