Consulting Pharmacy Consultant Qualifications University degree with excellent academic record; advanced degree preferred 4+ years of experience in a health care environment with deep expertise in pharmacy benefit management topics including but not limited to strategy, drug benefit administration, formulary development and management, and pharmacy network development Strong problem-solving skills; ability to process complex information, break it into logical steps/tasks and present it clearly to a range of audiences High level of entrepreneurship, professionalism and presence to succeed in a team-based setting on the ground with clients; go-getter who can multi-task across multiple asset development and client delivery Ability to provide leadership over, and influence individuals across, multiple stakeholders from different levels and backgrounds Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing Who You’ll Work With You will be based in one of our offices in North America as part of McKinsey’s Pharmacy Services domain within the Healthcare practice. Our healthcare practice is home to 500+ colleagues in North America consisting of consultants, deep content and technical experts, technologists, clinicians, and operational leaders. We come together, often as blended teams, to improve healthcare. Our healthcare practice serves North American payors, PBMs, providers and pharmacies, and services companies. We work with both public sector and private sector healthcare organizations. What You’ll Do You will work on teams of typically 2-5 consultants on client engagements focused on improving clients’ performance and strategic positioning within the pharmacy and broader healthcare value chain. In this role, you’ll collaborate within a team working on various topics with clients across the pharmacy value chain – all the entities between pharmaceutical companies and end consumers (wholesalers, pharmacies, PBMs, payors, providers and service companies). You will also contribute in driving the development of knowledge in the pharmacy benefit space, technology assets and client development. You will lead the day to day execution of a client project while guiding and developing individual team members. You’ll work directly with clients – usually on site – and you’ll take ownership of the overall project and its end products. You will make an important contribution to the analysis, design and implementation of business performance approaches, developing tailor-made solutions and work closely with clients to ensure positive impact and sustainable results. Client project work typically includes gathering and analyzing information, formulating and testing hypotheses, and developing recommendations for presentation to client management. From there, you will implement those recommendations with client team members. You’ll also gain new skills and build on the strengths you bring to the firm.
