McKinsey & Company Looking for Software Developer (Full Stack) at New York, United States Full Time

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or similar field, or more than 5 years of practical experience
• 3+ years of career experience developing in Javascript or Python; *please note all candidates will be assessed on their Python or Javascript skills during an initial video interview*
• 1+ years of career experience developing in Java (can be concurrent with Python and Javascript work)
• High proficiency in building and maintaining REST APIs, in either Python or Node
• 2+ years of experience with creating, maintaining, and troubleshooting AWS cloud architecture, including networking
• Comfortable working in an Enterprise setting, integrating custom builds with centralized, managed services
• Career experience with business intelligence, statistics, and/or data science
• Career experience with SQL, as well as a firm understanding of the principles of database design
• Proficiency with the posix command line (Mac OS or Linux), ideally with some scripting experience
• Exposure to streaming data and associated platforms (ex Confluent Kafka) is a plus
• Enthusiasm for learning new techniques, languages, and architectures
• Communication skills and work ethic geared to working in a remote environment
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Distinct customer focus and quality mindset

What You’ll Do

You will build products designed to analyze the characteristics and experience of our firm’s people. You will be working with a cross-functional team of talented developers, data engineers, business intelligence analysts, designers and product managers that are responsible for the strategy, development and maintenance of the People Analytics and Measurement team’s expanding product landscape.

You will be creating and maintaining stable, performant applications that allow users to filter and aggregate data by hundreds of attributes in real time. You will also need to be able to apply business logic to firm-wide data sets, using the Python and Javascript programming languages, establishing and optimizing cloud architecture for performance and stability, specifying infrastructure as code, primarily using AWS CloudFormation and/or Terraform, and maintaining CI/CD automation, primarily using GitHub actions.

You will also additionally work on applications which use Java backends, as we partner with teams who have chosen a Java stack. We also work with the R programming language for some legacy products.

You will be pairing with and mentoring developers with diverse backgrounds and varying technical abilities. All members of our team are also encouraged to contribute on general problem solving, such as architectural and performance decisions.
