Mechanism Ventures is an early-stage venture firm that works hands-on with entrepreneurs to cofound, fund, and scale ambitious companies.
In the Mechanism model, we work with entrepreneurs to identify and validate ideas before investment. We then provide the growth expertise to gain early traction as well as the business support to create positive unit economics, profitability, and scale.
The Mechanism team has a track record of investing in and cofounding multiple $100M+ revenue companies.
Position Description
We are hiring a freelance Virtual Assistant. As a valued member of the Mechanism Ventures team, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at helping Mechanism and our portfolio companies scale into world-class organizations. We are currently a team of 14 and looking to expand.
What You’ll Do
- Review scholarship essays.
- Assist with email outreach.
- Conduct internet research.
- Summarize information on spreadsheets and various tools.
- Assist with prospecting as needed.
- Help with link-building projects as needed.
- Other business tasks and projects as needed.
What You’ll Bring
- Excellent command of written and spoken English (spelling, grammar, syntax, and common idioms), including the ability to transcribe it accurately from voice memos.
- Ability to read and analyze written work for long periods.
- Ability to deliver accurate work based on the details provided.
- Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills.
- Proactive, and can work on a tight deadline.
- Resourceful with online research, and can concisely summarize findings.
- Ability to be trustworthy, efficient, and confidential to protect privacy.
- Ability to write professional emails to facilitate outreach and responses.
- Familiarity with Google Sheets (including functions), Google Docs, Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Calendar.
- Experience as a virtual assistant is a plus but is not required.
Time Commitment
This is a long-term, full-time position with steady hours. You should be available 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET/New York.
Location
This is a fully remote position. We operate as a distributed team and can work from anywhere.
