Role Purpose
The Editorial Assistant/Stylist will conceptualise and bring to life original, arresting photoshoots for the cover and interior of Life magazine.
He/she will assist the Editor of Life in aspects of the administration, commissioning, planning and producing of the magazine, with special responsibility for visuals and style.

Role Responsibilities (Overview)
- Drive the visual style of Life through the selection of photos and graphics for both print and online
- Develop a network of creatives and fashion brands to collaborate with on photoshoots and editorials
- Assist editorial in the planning and production of the magazine
- Pitch ideas and write stories
- Contribute to Life’s social media channels
- Edit articles for grammar, punctuation, clarity and accuracy
- Ensure content is free from legal issues
- Enhance content for digital publication as required
- Comprehensive knowledge of house style
- Understand and uphold the style, standards and ethics of Mediahuis
- Edit photos, pulling photos from image management applications, cropping photos for publication, verifying images
Experience & Qualifications (Minimum Experience & Essential Knowledge)
Two years’ experience in a publishing, photography, fashion styling or related role.
Skills
Technical & Non-technical
- Superb organisational skills
- Detail-orientated with the ability oversee projects and tasks to a high standard
- Pitch and brainstorm ideas for both visual and written features
- Strong understanding of photography and visual storytelling
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop preferred
- Comfortable with social media
- Good knowledge of rights and licensing issues
- Demonstrating consistency when putting together coherent and cohesive headlines, sub-heads, standfirsts, and captions
Other
- Working in a collaborative and multidisciplinary way under exacting deadlines
- A self-starter who can work within a collaborative team
- Have a holistic view of the creation of the magazine, with an interest in all parts of the process
