The Senior Project Engineer/Specialist will serve as an individual contributor with responsibility in our Operations RPOR functional group. Primary responsibilities are to provide technical skills to aid with to release existing technology for Geographic Expansion and lead Operations focused process and product changes which impact multiple manufacturing facilities. The candidate will formulate, deliver and/or manage work packages assigned and work with other stakeholders to achieve defined results for expanding geography product launches, developing and implementing product and process design changes on released products.
A Day in the Life:
Senior project engineers/specialists are seasoned individual contributors whom work independently under limited supervision to develop an approach and solution to their assigned work packages. Senior Project Engineers/Specialists may take work direction from Released Product Operations Representative (PROR) as part of a cross-functional Operations team or may be asked to autonomously lead a small Business Process Improvement project, a Released Product Engineering improvement implementation or geographic expansion.
A successful candidate will be able to execute state of the art project management practices by proactively applying established Predictive Engineering Tools and implement best practices that are deployed to enable efficient and robust change implementation.
Solves difficult problems that may require understanding of multiple issues, job areas, or specialties.
Make improvements to processes or products for efficiency or other gain.
Conduct in-depth analysis to provide recommendations on process improvements.
Use established technical practices for project management (e.g. Schedule predictions)
Demonstrate strong problem solving skills technical rigor for DRM
Lead the Extended Operations Team (up to 4 functions) to ensure on-time and on-budget performance.
Create strategic solutions to meet anticipated patient and business needs with predictability and certainty.
Ensure scope, cost, resource and schedule alignment between operations and other Released Product functions
Ability to apply financial accounting and know the importance of different expense types
Follow compliance processes for Design Change, Product Launch, and Design Transfer
Execute pre-established Operations Strategies.
Ensure structured problem methods and predictive engineering principles are consistently and rigorously applied, such as Design for Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or similar concepts.
Ability to manage a few small projects simultaneously
Communicates primarily with Operations Extended Team members and Operations functional leadership. Communication with other functions is expected when preparing launch or implementation.
Clear, concise, and simplified written and public speaking communication delivered with confidence.
Communications often are used to communicate technical detail.
Provide coaching and on-boarding to new employees
May provide guidance, coaching and training to other employees within job area
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree required
Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience
Nice to Have:
BS/MS in an Engineering or Scientific discipline
Proven Operations experience with depth of knowledge in at least two Operations function and Program Management experience
Experience working in a highly regulated industry (e.g. medical device, pharmaceutical, avionics, automotive)
Experience with problem solving methodologies
Experience working in virtual teams
Experience in Post-Market or Continuation Engineering
Experience with Cardiac-related Medical Devices, Products and Therapies.
Medical device product development experience and a strong understanding of FDA, ICH and IEC standards
Experience across the entire product lifecycle
DRM, DFSS or Six Sigma Green Belt Certified
Experience with CAPA or Change Management,
PMP Certified
