Salary Range: $24.49 per hour – $32.29 per hour
Essential Functions:
Willingness to become knowledgeable regarding select policies, regulations, software and legal requirements as related to maintenance and public transportation.
Prepares reports for managers as needed.
Maintains various records and compiles pertinent information for Maintenance Manager use.
Maintains records/files for the purpose of documenting and/or providing reliable information and compliance with all applicable laws, statutes, and policy requirements.
Ability to perform and apply basic math including calculation of fractions, percent and/or ratios; read and interpret instructions; and understand multiple step instructions.
Ability to perform multiple technical tasks to manage electronic records.
Ability to prioritize work and make good decisions.
Ability to work under standardized instructions and/or routines; provide information and/or advising others; and operating within a defined budget and/or financial guidelines.
Maintain the Maintenance Manager’s calendar.
Ability to maintain inventory management system.
Processes business documents and materials (e.g. purchase requisitions, purchase orders, payroll records, work orders, mail, etc.)
Independently researches issues/concerns and brings them to resolution.
Regular and punctual attendance required to meet essential functions of job responsibilities.
Ability to work around maintenance shop environment which includes sounds related to repair and maintenance of large transit vehicles.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Competencies:
Command of business English and ability to write letters using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Knowledge of office procedures and basic bookkeeping procedures and data input.
Communicate with others in a clear and precise manner, problem solving, analyze issues, create plans of action and reach solutions.
Maintain confidentiality of records and correspondence.
Relates to the public, staff and administration in a positive manner.
Effectively use a variety of computer programs to include, but not limited to Excel and complex database programs.
Ability to learn new software programs as needed.
Keyboard proficiency.
Ability to appropriately utilize telephone system and email system and prioritize tasks.
Knowledge of both electronic and paper filing systems.
Work Environment:
Vehicle Maintenance Shop environment.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift/or move up to 30 pounds.
Under applicable federal US DOT law (49 CFR Part 40) applicants will be subject to a pre-employment drug test and background check after receiving a conditional offer of employment. MTA will also require a satisfactory driving record after acceptance of a conditional offer of employment.
Required Education:
Associate Degree Preferred.
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Secretarial experience in maintenance, transportation, and or combination of experience and education.
Hours of Work:
7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Travel:
Upon request may travel to Willits, Fort Bragg, or South Mendocino Coast as necessary in MTA owned vehicle.
