We are currently looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join our values-based nursing team, within our challenging and rewarding environment. As a Healthcare Assistant with Mercy Hospice, you’ll be a valuable part of an inclusive, supportive, and highly experienced In-patient Unit (IPU) team based in Ponsonby.

Ngā kawenga matua o te mahi / Key responsibilities of the role:

• Assisting nursing colleagues to provide personal care to patients
• Ensuring meals and refreshments are provided for patients in the IPU
• Communicating to the nursing and medical staff of any physical, psychosocial/spiritual needs seen during patient cares
• Ensuring nursing equipment and resources are available for staff to use
• Identifying potential health and safety hazards and managing any risks

Ngā pūkenga e hiahiatia / Skills you’ll bring to the role:

• Ideally experience working as a Health Care Assistant – either in palliative care, general medicine/surgery or aged care
• Excellent communication skills and a ‘can do’ attitude

Mercy Hospice operates a 7 day a week, 24 hours a day IPU service and as such applicants must be available to work rostered shifts.

Mercy Hospice strongly encourages all staff to follow the Ministry of Health guidelines regarding current or future booster vaccinations.
