Job Description

Metals USA has an immediate opening for an Inside Sales Representative in their Waggaman, LA location. The Inside Sales Representative will anticipate and meet customer needs in all aspects of the sale and delivery of steel plates, shapes, custom processing and value added services. Create and maintain customer relationships and meet Metals USA goal as a customer-driven company.Essential Functions:

• Contact new and existing customers to discuss their needs, and to explain how these needs could be met by specific products and services.
• Answer customers’ questions about products, prices, availability, and product uses.
• Quote and negotiate prices and other bid specifications.
• Emphasize product features based on analyses of customers’ needs, and on technical knowledge of product capabilities and limitations.
• Maintain customer records, using automated systems.
• Identify prospective customers by using such business tools and practices as directories, leads from existing clients, participating in organizations and clubs, and attending trade shows and conferences.
• Prepare sales contracts for orders obtained, and submit orders for processing.
• Assist in selecting the correct products or processing means based on customers’ needs, product specifications, and applicable regulations.
• Collaborate with colleagues to exchange information such as selling strategies and marketing information.
• Handles sales call volume of 85-90% incoming (inbound) and 10-15% outgoing (telemarketing).
• Visits customer sites or calls on potential customers
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested

Requirements:

• Vocational/Technical/Business School degree (may include Associate’s degree) or equivalent two (2) yrs in direct sales
• Minimum two (2) yrs working knowledge of the steel and the steel processing industry
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business information, customers drawings or sketches, technical procedures and numerical data. Ability to write simple reports and general business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, customers and other employees
• Experience in calculating figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry
• Computer/Office Skills: working knowledge of latest Windows Operating Platform, Microsoft business applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); comfortable using the internet for sourcing and obtaining competitive and marketing data. Proficient at using standard office equipment such as fax, copier, scanner, etc)
• Must possess a valid Drivers License
