In Solihull we are committed to transforming life chances by holding children and young people at the heart of everything we do. We are ambitious for our children and young people, ensuring all children have access to a high-quality inclusive education which empowers them to lead independent and successful lives.
To be successful within this position you will be highly knowledgeable in Special Educational Needs, particularly within the educational/curriculum setting, having gained substantial experience working within school leadership, educational management or another relevant role.
We have created this new role to establish and develop a range of effective commissioning options. We need these to enable the authority to ensure a sufficient supply of high-quality placements are available to meet the needs of all children and young people with significant additional needs, across both SEND and alternative provision settings.
You will be responsible for establishing and developing a range of effective commissioning briefs for existing and new SEND/Alternative Provisions (AP) to enable the authority to ensure that provisions meet the needs of children with additional needs and SEND in Solihull. You will also ensure clear protocols are developed and put in place covering the operation of our specialist provisions, including schools and Additional Resource Provisions (ARPs).
Role responsibilities include:
You will have:
This is a hugely rewarding role which will provide you with an opportunity to build and develop a career within Solihull.
The role is currently based in our collaborative open plan office space with the option of working from home. The office is based in Central Solihull, within walking distance of our shops and local amenities. You will be working with talented and experienced colleagues who all share a passion and commitment to providing the best education we can for our children.
We also understand that our employees want to do more than just work and we encourage good work-life balance by offering a range of flexible working options; this is further supplemented by an extensive wellbeing offer, as well as a range of other benefits including staff discounts and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.
We are currently implementing our Smarter Ways of Working programme as we recognise that work is what you do and not necessarily where you go. Our aim is to balance the needs of our employees with service delivery and, for the majority of our roles, to enable our people to be able to work.
If you have a specific question or require further information regarding this post, please contact Steve Fenton (Head of Service Commissioning for Learning) on 0121-704-6692, or Charlotte Jones (Head of SEND 0-25 Service) at [email protected]
Closing date: 25 July 2022.
