Microchip Technology Inc. is a leading provider of embedded control applications. The Hardware Engineer designs and maintains all of Microchip’s products. The Hardware Engineer is involved in resolving any hardware issues or obsoleting of parts, as well as the design of new or any improvements of the Microchip products. It is important that the Hardware Engineer works closely with the Senior Hardware Engineer and that all work is peer reviewed. Also any changes to the hardware of the products is properly tested, meets any relevant specifications and certifications such as CE before it is released to the customers. It is critical that all changes, tests or reviews in relation to certifications or tests are documented fully. The Hardware Engineer ensures that the products and their practices, systems, documentation designs and any prototypes produced, meet specification or scope and that the projects are managed so they complete on time.
The Hardware Engineer inputs to the final design and development of complex high reliability products integrating the latest technologies and meeting the highest performance standards. This covers the implementation and commissioning of hardware for Microchip precision GPS based clocks and associated products in accordance with defined project parameters (scope, budget, schedule and quality) and other projects undertaken by Microchip. The Hardware Engineer inputs to the hardware design once the scope of specification has been received from the Innovation team and ensures that Microchip builds products or new versions that are economic and attractive to customers.
