The payments engineering team sits in the Commerce and Ecosystems (C&E) organization and is the heart of all commerce activity at Microsoft such as Xbox, Office and Azure. We are looking for a talented Technical Program Manager to help craft the next generation of payments experiences and platform capabilities for Microsoft’s first party merchant stores. As a Technical Program Manager, you will be responsible for defining and guiding high-level goals and roadmaps, monitoring and communicating progress, and defining functional requirements for new features and platform capabilities. You’ll partner with Payments Engineering teams and other cross-functional partners both internal and external partners to prioritize work based on impact and drive strong execution. Additionally, you will help in designing a platform that continues to scale with Microsoft’s business
The ideal candidate has a successful track record working in an engineering role on products or features that marry user experience, platform capabilities with requirements impacting an ecommerce platform. Outstanding communication skills and cross-discipline collaboration is a must, as is self-awareness, problem solving and analytical/problem solving mindset. Customer empathy, previous experiences with payments engineering, FinTech/FinServices or ecommerce and running complex technical and business programs in parallel are a must.
Responsibilities
As a Program Manager 2, you will have an integral role on a feature team on the commerce Payments services team with an opportunity for broad impact. As an advocate for the customer, you will create scenarios, define technical requirements and establish measures of success for your features. Working closely with partner teams across Microsoft’s commerce team, you will create payments features that scale via strong platform design as well as meeting customer experience expectations. Since you will be a key part of one or more feature teams, you will effectively partner with your engineering crew to plan, craft and deliver quality features and capabilities. Through working with our data and customer insights teams, you will learn, iterate, and constantly improve your feature(s) and be a trusted expert in payments.
Qualifications
Required:
BS in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience
5+ years of technical Program Management experience in a software development environment
Preferred:
Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related disciplines
Previous development experience a strong plus
Strong technical background and solid foundation in software engineering principles and architecture design
Strong cross-team collaboration skills
Demonstrable experience with planning and executing with one or more feature teams using scrum/agile methodologies
Experience working in payments, ecommerce, or FinTech/Fin Services
Good problem solving/analysis experience coupled with at least 3 years background with SQL, Kusto or other comparable analytical tools
You have strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to influence engineering and partner teams without authority
Perform risk management and change management on projects.
Provide day-to-day coordination and quality assurance for projects and tasks.
Drive internal process improvements and remove gaps across multiple teams
Effective at managing multiple work streams and stakeholders’ expectations
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
