The software engineers from the AI and Business Intelligence (BI) team explore the big data from Office 365 operation in search of consistent patterns and systematic relationships (connect the dots) across all data sources involved. The goal of this team is to predict trends, find insights and produce actionable, trustworthy recommendations and decisions for Office 365 operation and Tenant Value Guidance, which is curried on through an analytical modelling process based on machine learning by processing structured, semi-structed and unstructured data.

As a Software Engineering II, you will collaborate closely with data scientists for the design, development, and deployment of machine learning to support AI solutions that offer personalized experience for our users and help them to realize their business values with Office O365 offerings. This role also involves designing and implementing highly performant and scalable systems to support real-time inference on large language models, as well as developing and implementing strategies to improve model performance, such as optimizing model architectures, tuning hyperparameters, and leveraging hardware accelerators.

Location: This role is requiered to be in Redmond, WA with worksite flexibility up to 50% Work From Home.

Responsibilities

• In terms of business accountability this role is expected to directly contribute to the operation optimization of Office 365 operation and recommendation services through delivering predictive models and insights discovery, building machine learning driven automated data processes (such as pre-processing, feature extractions),various user pattern recognition and user traffic forecasts as well as.
• Work closely with data scientists to prepare data for model development, and to deploy models to cloud infrastructure as highly scalable AI services.
• Collaboratively architect the system design of AI services for reliable and scalable real-time inference.
• Creates data structures and pipelines on a large scale to gather, organize, and standardize data to generate insights and intelligence that support business needs.
• Make cloud infrastructure improvements to ensure that these ML services are scalable, reliable, and secure.
• Prototype end-to-end solutions involving distributed and scalable machine learning algorithms leveraging state-of-the-art technology.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
• OR equivalent experience.
• 2+ years (including MS program or PhD program) of experience in one of the following areas: Big Data/Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence.
• 2+ years Industry experience in Machine Learning deployment or AI pipelines, cloud-based services, cloud computing, and platform-based models.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years (including MS program or PhD program) of experience in one of the following areas: Big Data/Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence.
• Demonstrated experience in digital advertising industry
• Familiarity with distributed Deep Learning framework
• Demonstrated experience in large language models

Software Engineering IC3 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 – $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 – $198,600 per year.
