The Surveillance Information Management System (SIMS) Workflow Administrator manages the delivery of the administrative, technical and functional needs that underpin MPI’s biosecurity surveillance systems.
You’ll be the primary point of contact for change requests, queries and updates in the system, ensuring the system is able to run smoothly. Along with day-to-day system requirements, you’ll also be responsible for enhancements to the system. You’ll work with our customers to understand what business needs are and translate that into actions for our developers to deliver, along with supporting delivery requirements.

The purpose of our Diagnostic and Surveillance Services (DSS) directorate is to deliver the core functions of surveillance, incursion investigation, diagnostics and response for exotic pests and diseases. These services are based at four sites across NZ.
The Biosecurity Surveillance and Incursion Investigation group (BS&II) manages the surveillance and investigation of notifications of suspected exotic pests and diseases that may affect New Zealand’s primary industries or aquatic and terrestrial environments. Surveillance and incursion investigation is an integral component of New Zealand’s multi-layered biosecurity system. BS&II support business groups across MPI, providing vital information for decision making, risk intervention and trade facilitation activities.
The data for the BS&II group is managed in the Surveillance Information Management System (SIMS).
