Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the Team | Te Uru Rākau – New Zealand Forest Service
Crown Forestry is a business unit within Te Uru Rākau – New Zealand Forest Service that manages the Crown’s commercial forestry assets, including leases on Māori land, residual Crown forests, and other forestry assets. We are also actively engaged fostering new commercial relationships with landowners and expanding our forest establishment programme across the country.
Kōrero Mō Te Tūranga│About The Role
As the General Manager of Crown Forestry, this is a unique forestry sector opportunity to lead our national forestry operation – overseeing commercial performance and operational management, managing critical relationships, and accelerating meaningful change in the sector.
Critical to your success will be the depth of engagement and influence required to ensure Crown Forestry’s ongoing value — whether that be with Ministers, landowners, or other forest industry leaders. As a result, you will balance your focus across both the strategic and operational elements of the role. This includes the leadership that you provide your close-knit team, overseeing successful commercial management, and leading partnership negotiations with senior Māori leaders and the private sector.
There is a real opportunity in Crown Forestry to be a champion for change across the forestry sector nationwide. Therefore, as a senior industry steward, your challenge is to seek and implement opportunities to raise the bar – from a forest performance, management, innovation and partnership perspective.
